Personal Background- She was a still life photographer and a writer. After a horrible experience of skiing, and shattering her leg, she was not allowed to go into the dark room for a year. This is when she pursued writing.
Style-
I really like her work and how she does the pictures. She takes still life pictures. Visual characteristics that her work possesses is having a perfect eye for different lightings. Compared to painting/history. Her style of work is more black and white then more colorful.
Philosophy-
The idea behind this artist's work is to give the viewer's eyes something unique to look at. Their personal life is in the photos because she is also an author,so the photos and books go together with a different type of style. Her social life was how she was known for still lifes that have different perspectives of an object that is used in someone’s daily life. I think what they were trying to say in her images was that even in a smoke object there can always be a beautiful ending.
Influences-
Olivia Parker was influenced by traditional Dutch, Flemish and Spanish 17th century. She has influenced my work by taking interest in the same things that I have interest in. Her pictures are pretty easy to understand and easy to look at. They are not hurting the eyes and they also have a good meaning to the picture she is taking. I like how not all the pictures are in black and white and some are, it's a good contrast
Compare and Contrast
This is the second picture I took. I did not have any of the kind of yellow paper she used. My paper is smaller and not round.
For this assignment I used a black background. I got the shells from a beach in Louisiana. My background has more light contrast.
This is the last picture I took. My picture looks a little edited but they look the same for the most part. My eggs are slightly yellow because of the color contrast.
Artist Statement My first image is cracked egg shells. They show me that new life is hatching. My next picture is string beans. I think string beans are good to eat. My last picture i chose is some crumpled up pieces of paper. I like these because they are in color.
